Removing Candle Wax From Carpet

Removing candle wax from carpet? Have you ruined your new carpet like I did? Will it clean up with just soap and water? It would if you had purchased a soy based candle. I found this out the hard way!

After I spilled the wax I tried to get as much of it cleaned as possible. I really didn't know if it was better to get it while it was liquid or wait until it hardened. I don't think it would be easier either way.

The candle was red cinnamon and the dye in the wax left a very ugly red oily stain on my new blue carpet. I tried every thing I could think of from ice cubes to peanut butter. Peanut butter always seemed to work when my kids got gum in their hair. Between the oil in the candle and the peanut butter the stain was worse than before.

This wouldn't have been so bad if I had been using a soy based candle. The soy wax cleans up nicely with just soap and water.

Paraffin wax is also hard on your wood surfaces. I dripped some on one of my end tables. Even though I wiped it up right away the wax took off the finish. I had a dull spot on the table.

I never have been able to find an easy way to get paraffin candle wax out of carpet.
